Mobile App Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 9, 2026
Introduction
CIQ, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this policy. This policy describes:
- The types of information we may collect or that you may provide when you purchase, download, install, register with, access, or use CatchIQ (the “App”).
- Our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing that information.
This policy applies only to information we collect in this App, and in email, text, and other electronic communications sent through or in connection with the App. It applies to all users, including participants in our closed beta and users after public release.
This policy DOES NOT apply to information that:
- We collect offline.
- You provide to or is collected by any third party (see Third-Party Information Collection).
These other third parties may have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read before providing information on or through them.
Please read this policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App. By interacting with the App or providing us with your information, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of your information as described in this privacy policy.
This policy may change from time to time (see Changes to Our Privacy Policy). Your continued use of this App after we revise this policy means you accept those changes, so please check the policy periodically for updates.
1) What We Collect and How We Collect This Information
We collect information from and about users of our App:
- Directly from you when you provide it to us.
- Automatically when you use the App.
- From third parties we integrate with.
1.1 Information You Provide
When you download, register with, or use the App, we may ask you to provide information:
- Personal Identifiers, such as name, alias, email address, username, or other similar identifiers.
- Internet or other electronic network activity information, such as browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with internet web sites and applications.
- Geolocation data.
- Audio, electronic video, or image information, such as customer service call recordings.
- Content You Upload: Fishing photos (including potential EXIF metadata), videos (if enabled), notes, gear lists, catch details (species, size, weight), trip logs (date, time, location notes), waypoints, and personal tags.
- Preferences: Notification settings, privacy choices, and sharing settings.
- User Support: Information you provide when you contact support or participate in surveys.
- Beta Program Information (Closed Beta): Tester identifiers, feedback, crash reports, and usage data (see 2.2) collected to improve prerelease features.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device & App Data: Device type, OS version, app version, language, time zone, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage Data: Feature usage, clicks, in-app screens viewed, session duration, and performance metrics (e.g., crashes).
- Approximate or Precise Location (with permission): Used for logs, planning, and forecasting features. You can disable location in device settings, though some features may be limited.
- Cookies / SDK Data: Cookies, which are small data files (e.g., text files) stored on the browser or device you use to view the App, a message, or a website. They may help store user preferences and activity, and may allow the App or a website to recognize a particular browser or device. There are several types of cookies, including, for example, browser cookies, session cookies, and persistent cookies. Cookies may record information you access on one page of the App to simplify subsequent interaction with the App, or to help streamline your transactions on related pages of that App. Most major browsers are set up so that they will initially accept cookies, but you might be able to adjust your browser's or device's preferences to issue you an alert when a cookie is downloaded, or to block, reject, disable, delete or manage the use of some or all cookies on your browser or device. Cookies can be set by the app owner (i.e., us) or website owner, or they can be set by third parties (e.g., Facebook, Google, etc.). Cookies are used to help us speed up your future activities or to improve your experience by remembering the information that you have already provided to us. Third-party cookies may also be used to enable analytics (e.g. Google Analytics) or advertising functionality (e.g., ad retargeting on third-party websites) that enables more customized services and advertising by tracking your interaction with our App and collecting information about how you use the App. When applicable (e.g., web companion site), cookies and similar technologies help remember preferences and analyze usage. In app SDKs perform similar functions.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Payments & Subscriptions: We use RevenueCat and the Apple App Store / Google Play Billing to manage purchases and subscriptions, billing, payment, and shipping information. We receive subscription status, product IDs, and transaction receipts but do not receive or store full payment card numbers.
- Analytics / Crash Reporting: Firebase (and related Google services) may provide crash logs, diagnostics, and usage analytics.
- Advertising (Free Tier): Ad networks/SDKs may receive device advertising identifiers and contextual information to deliver and measure ads.
1.4 How We Collect This Information
We may collect personal and non-personal information directly from you when you visit, access or use the App; when you register via the App or purchase any products or services available through the App; when you “sign in,” “log in,” or the like to the App; when you allow the App to access, upload, download, import or export content found on or through, or to otherwise interact with, your computer or mobile device (or any other device you may use to visit, access or use the App) or online accounts with third-party websites, networks, platforms, servers or applications (e.g., your online social media accounts, your cloud drives and servers, your mobile device service provider); or whenever we ask you for such information, such as, for example, when you process a payment through the App, or when you answer an online survey or questionnaire. In addition, if you or a third party sends us a comment, message or other communication (such as, by way of example only, email, letter, fax, phone call, or voice message) about you or your activities on or through the App, then we may collect any personal or non-personal information provided therein or therewith.

5) Payments & Subscriptions
To ensure the security of your transaction data, we may engage the services of trusted third-party vendors specializing in secure online payment processing. These vendors utilize industry-standard security measures to protect your payment information during online transactions. We do not store or have direct access to your complete payment details, such as credit card numbers or bank account information. All credit card, debit card and other monetary transactions on or through the App occur through an online payment processing application(s) accessible through the App. This online payment processing application is provided by our third-party vendor RevenueCat. These payments are handled through the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. RevenueCat's privacy policy and its information security measures should be available on https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy or by contacting RevenueCat directly. Our relationship with RevenueCat is merely contractual in nature, as RevenueCat is nothing more than a third-party vendor to us, and are in no way subject to our direction or control; thus, their relationship is not, and should not be construed as, one of fiduciaries, franchisors-franchisees, agents-principals, employers-employees, partners, joint venturers or the like.
Please note that while we take reasonable precautions to safeguard your personal information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your data during transmission or storage. However, we continually review and update our security practices to protect your information to the best of our ability.
By using the App and providing your information, you acknowledge and agree that we cannot guarantee the security of any data transmitted to or from the App, and that you do so at your own risk.
If you start a trial or promotional offer, we process data necessary to administer eligibility and status.
In connection with any transaction that you conduct through the App (e.g., the purchase or sale of any products or services, on or through the App), you may be asked to supply certain information relevant to the transaction, including, without limitation, your credit card number and expiration date, your billing address, your shipping address, your phone number and/or your email address. By submitting such information, you grant Us without charge the irrevocable, unencumbered, universe-wide and perpetual right to provide such information to third parties (e.g., payment processing companies) for the purpose of facilitating the transaction.
Cancellations or refunds of subscriptions are managed through the applicable app store policies. Please see the app store policies for more information.
If you have any concerns or questions about the security of your data or our payment processing practices, please contact us using the information provided at the end of this Mobile App Privacy Policy.
